A ‘bespoke’ mentoring system for NZ Medical Herbalists
Nicola is currently studying towards a MSc Herbal Medicine and is undertaking research into professional development, specifically looking at the processes involved in developing a ‘bespoke’ mentoring system for NZ Medical Herbalists and Naturopaths.
Nicola will give an overview of the current literature on mentorship in healthcare and discuss the preliminary findings of her dissertation survey sent to English-speaking Naturopath and Herbal Medicine Professional Associations exploring current best practice, including obstacles to success. She is particularly interested in the unique opportunities and challenges of a NZ based mentoring programme. It is hoped that survey findings may help to identify optimal mentoring processes within the profession that could inform the development of a robust mentoring programme.
