About Me

I have been a practicing Naturopath and Medical Herbalist for the past 13 years, initially in Titirangi, Auckland and for the past 8 years back in my hometown of Christchurch. Over this time i have worked with a wide range of clients with various health issues, and have developed a deep respect for the important role that natural health plays alongside conventional medicine in our community. I enjoy working with:

  • children of all ages
  • women's hormonal conditions (PMS, Menopause, PCOS, etc)
  • thyroid disorders
  • stress, anxiety and mood imbalances
  • sleeping problems
  • allergies, intolerances & sensitivities
  • digestive health energy,
  • fatigue and wellbeing
  • immune problems,
  • recurrent infections
Natural medicine is powerful because it seeks to build vitality and robustness, and bring people back to balance. Finding the ways to do this involves some investigation- listening, thinking, testing where needed. Sometimes the answers are surprisingly simple and sometimes more complex. Sometimes they are in your fridge or your garden, and sometimes they are in the dispensary.

Training & Influences
I graduated from South Pacific College of Natural Therapies in 2005 with a Bachelor of Health Science (Complementary Medicine), an Advanced Diploma in Herbal Medicine, and an Advanced Diploma in Naturopathy. Earlier studies saw me completing a Bachelor of Arts from Canterbury University. Since this time I have learnt so much from my peers and attendance at conferences, Rongoa (Traditional Maori Medicine) workshops, my clients, and my garden. I served on the national committee of the NZAMH for many years, including as Vice President.

What to Expect
Initial appointments are comprehensive to allow for thorough case-taking so that we may get a full understanding of your health history and the state of your well-being at the current time, as well as a clear focus on the areas you wish to improve. Some testing may be done in the clinic or recommended. A treatment plan is developed with you to most efficiently address your health concerns in a manner which suits you. I prescribe herbal medicines from my dispensary, which are mixed and blended for each individual. I may also recommend nutritional supplements if there is a need, and almost always make nutritional recommendations in regards to ways of eating which may be beneficial. Some lifestyle changes may be recommended also. After the first appointment, it is very individual as to how soon or how often you may need or wish to come back to fine tune treatments and assess progress. Some people come back once and others come back monthly for a few months.
